Check Your Podcast Settings in Your Hosting Account<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a few settings that you must have in place before you submit your podcast to Apple. Make sure you&rsquo;ve filled in every one of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Title:<\/strong> the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepodcasthost.com\/planning\/podcast-names\/\">name of your podcast<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Description:<\/strong> a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepodcasthost.com\/planning\/how-to-write-a-great-podcast-description\/\">short summary of your show<\/a>, focussing on why people should listen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Category:<\/strong> most hosts allow up to three categories in which you can appear &ndash; you can see <a data-lasso-id=\"4394\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thepodcasthost.com\/planning\/itunes-podcast-categories\/\">all Apple Podcasts categories here<\/a> and why they&rsquo;re important<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Artwork:<\/strong> make sure you have podcast artwork uploaded within your podcast host &ndash; learn <a data-lasso-id=\"4395\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thepodcasthost.com\/promotion\/how-to-create-your-podcast-cover-art\/\">how to create great podcast artwork here<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Explicit:<\/strong> state whether your show is for adults only or not<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Copyright:<\/strong> show who owns the copyright to the show<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Website:<\/strong> what&rsquo;s the home website for the show &ndash; include the URL<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You&rsquo;ll find other settings in many hosting platforms, but these are the essentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading \" id=\"h-3-create-an-account-login-to-apple-podcasts-connect\">3. Create an Account \/ Login to Apple Podcasts Connect<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can create a new Apple account or log in with an existing one <a href=\"https:\/\/podcastsconnect.apple.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here at Apple Podcasts Connect<\/a>. Podcasts Connect is the portal for managing your show on Apple. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading \" id=\"h-4-submit-your-podcast-to-apple-podcasts\">4. Choose &ldquo;Add a show with an RSS feed&rdquo;. You can keep doing this until you get the green light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have real trouble with this, the best first stop is your podcast hosting provider&rsquo;s support team. They&rsquo;ll be able to help you with any larger validation issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you DO get the green light, click &lsquo;Publish&rsquo;. And you&rsquo;re done! You&rsquo;d excitedly submit your podcast feeling like you had all that momentum behind you, and then it could take up to a week to actually see the thing in iTunes\/Apple Podcasts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anecdotally, I&rsquo;ve found it to be much quicker these days, and haven&rsquo;t had to wait more than 24 hours for a long time. It&rsquo;s worth noting that Apple can only give you data from listening that happens on their own platform &ndash; it&rsquo;s a big sample size, but it isn&rsquo;t the whole story. For your overall download numbers, you&rsquo;d want to look inside your hosting account&rsquo;s analytics section.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading \" id=\"h-does-itunes-still-exist-and-is-my-podcast-in-itunes\">Does iTunes Still Exist? (And Is My Podcast in iTunes?)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>iTunes still technically exists, though it&rsquo;s been divided up into different apps such as Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Podcasts. Some folks might still have the iTunes desktop app on their computer. In any case, your podcast will be available there if it&rsquo;s available in Apple Podcasts, so you don&rsquo;t need to worry (or think at all) about it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading \" id=\"h-where-else-should-i-submit-my-podcast\">Where Else Should I Submit My Podcast?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When your podcast is listed in Apple Podcasts, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepodcasthost.com\/promotion\/best-podcast-directories-where-to-list\/\">it&rsquo;ll pop up in loads of other apps<\/a>, too, which saves a ton of time. The other notable place you need to make a point of submitting to is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepodcasthost.com\/publishing\/how-to-get-your-podcast-on-spotify\/\">Spotify<\/a>.
